The last school day of lukio is celebrated by wearing costumes, getting a lorry ride around town and throwing candy to people who are watching. Students also organise parties before, during and after the day. There are big ferries (like this and this) reserved just for their abi-cruises.
Although they don’t have any classes left, their most important exams are held in March and it isn’t untill early June when is their absolutely final day of lukio.
Abi is a person who is doing her last year of lukio (upper secondary school). Lukio lasts about three years and about half of the people go to lukio after nine years of compulsory school. Originally lukio was meant as preparation for university studies but today many choose a different career after lukio.
