…as temperatures are reaching 30C degrees.
I’d appreciate if someone could tell me what’s the English name of the phenomenon when air gets fuzzy near the ground because of the heat?
I’d like to google for hints how to capture than in a photo. We don’t get that too often here… You can of course tell your own secrets in the comment box as well!

It’s called a mirage in English.
I thought mirage is the effect when you see something fake on the ground like water (= a reflection from the sky) because of the heat.
I’ve seen that in Egypt from a comfortable air conditioned bus and this was nothing like it. Just fuzzy air.
If it’s the Yuko I think you are, I’m glad you are following the blog.
We had 28 C in Haninge today. It’s midnight now and around 23 C.
We get this a lot in Australia, but I am not aware of a word for it. I would call it a shimmering haze. We were in Helsinki 2 weeks ago and the weather was beautiful. I took photos of people enjoying the sun and your lovely parks. I have jsu done a couple of posts on Helsinki and there will be more. I love it.
Hi P.
What about heat haze? And yeah, it’s weird – I’m getting it on my (amateur’s) camera too!
Thanks JeesHelsinki, heat haze it is. I was struggling to capture it with a professional camera…
