…enjoying a nice autumn day.
Actually it was a day that I would have called boringly grey only a few years ago. Then I used a camera only when I was travelling.
This is no longer my main blog, see Learning to See in Helsinki for more frequent updates.

Fantastic! One wouldn’t think that this was shot in a Zoo!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an animal like that before your blog posting!
Lachezar, you are not the first who says that my zoo shots don’t look like they were shot in a zoo. Animals in Helsinki zoo seem to have much larger enclosures than I’ve seen in other zoos during my travels.
Leif, muskox lives in the arctic regions of Canada, Greenland and Alaska so aren’t they almost your neighbours?
One thing that I don’t like about Helsinki Zoo is that all cats have to be photographed either through fence or glass. These muskox, deers, etc. are much more fun, because you don’t have any obstacles between you and camera.
What comes to enclosures, San Diego Wild Animal Park (different thing than San Diego Zoo) is my favorite. They have enclosures, where they have tried to mix more than one species in same enclosure.
To get back to your photographs. You have lot of nice photographs from Helsinki Zoo, which has started to make me wonder, how often do you visit there?
I visit the zoo every 2-3 months. It’s the place where I went to practice for my African safari some years ago and found it very useful. It’s also interesting to see the animals during different seasons.
