Great news as City Daily Photo community’s missing blogger in Tehran has been released and is at home.
A few days ago I asked where was I when I took a photo of the Helsinki cathedral and I think now you should know. I’ve now also got a version of the photo were the weather is not as dull as in the original.

I have no idea why the car has a sticker “Traffic control” in English. Not much traffic to be controlled here though.
This is my second post of the day as Where Is Our Blogger? didn’t contain a real photo. A member of our City Daily Photo community has gone missing in Tehran.
Where Is Our Blogger?

A member of our City Daily Photo blog community in Tehran has gone missing in the aftermath of the Iranian elections – or at least he hasn’t been able to update his blog tehranlive.org since 17th June 2009. It is possible that he got into trouble because of his photos.
Before the elections it was interesting to see his images from a country that is not so well-known despite the news coverage it has got during the past decades. His Tehran was lively, beautiful and much less fanatic than the Tehran of the tv news – until the campaigning and protests started. Unfortunately when the times get rougher the photos get better.
Many of us in the City Daily Photo community are concerned about his well-being and the situation in Iran. A special blog day is organized today on 28th June 2009: click here to view thumbnails for all participants.
Please have a look at the missing blogger’s photos at tehranlive.org.
EDIT 28th June: Great news, he is at home.

Vuoritalo

Vuoritalo (mountain house) in Käpylä was built in 1921 for a volunteer fire brigade. Despite disagreements that stopped the construction work before all parts of the building were even started, the incomplete Vuoritalo has been a school, a church, a theatre, a dance hall and many other things. Most recently PUNK ry (capital region underground youth culture association) rented the place between 2002-2006. Here are photos from their farewall party and here is a photo from 1962.
The building doesn’t have many doors or windows and some of them are in very strange places. The simplicity makes its balcony (barely visible in the photo) even more interesting.

Czar Alexander II Turned His Back to Motown Music

Motown Band Par Avion performing at Senate’s Square.
The background was partially transparent so everything you see above the windmills is real Senate’s Square including the statue of Czar Alexander II. For about hundred years Finland was part of Russia and Alexander II’s time was considered so positive for Finland that his statue hasn’t been removed from the number one spot of the country.
