Frozen Frog

A detail from an ice sculpture.

This is only the tip of the ice sculpture.

There was an international ice sculpture competition Art Meets Ice at Korkesaari zoo during two weekends in January and February. This entry was made for the theme Frogs Unlimited. A week earlier competitors used a theme Saved by the Zoos. The sculptures can be seen at the zoo until they melt.

Many of the sculptures were very impressive and contained very fine details although they had already been outdoors for 1-2 weeks.

It’s soothing and disturbing at the same time. Very beautiful.

Oh, wait, I thought I was leaving a comment for the island in the ice fog image but it ended up under the ice frog (which is very cool but certainly not disturbing). What happened to the island?

No matter – both photos are great!

It seems that every now and then comments are posted under a wrong photo.

Either there is a usability issue with the wordpress theme I’m using that confuses users. Or the wordpress engine actually puts the comments under wrong entries.

That shot will get one’s attention! Very nice. Maybe you could do another on a warm, sunny day?

How beautiful. I’ve only been to Suomenlinna once, in autumn, so it’s lovely to see this in winter.
