Welcome to Helsinki

Welcome to the Finnish capital and to this blog! Helsinki city center is built on a peninsula and there are many islands so the Baltic Sea is very visible in Helsinki. The photo contains also some other Helsinki icons such as the Helsinki Cathedral and a ferry.

During the winter some of the islands can be reached by walking on the ice. Let’s hope that the next winter will be a bit colder than the last winter was and I can show you how crowded it can get.

Next I will give you a quick introduction to Helsinki’s background in the following four entries.
